Intra-Gastric Balloon 

Intra-gastric balloon is an FDA approved, non-surgical approach to treating obesity. Using an endoscope, a deflated balloon is placed into the stomach through the mouth. The balloon is then filled with saline to fill the space in the stomach, giving one the feeling of fullness with less food. The balloon is removed in a familiar fashion a few months later.

No Surgery

There is no cutting involved what so ever. The balloon is placed into the stomach via an endoscope device under mild sedation. The entire procedure takes approximately 5 minutes. Insertion and removal is totally pain free.

Day Admission Only

No overnight stay is needed. We will usually keep you in hospital for around 4 hours after insertion of the balloon and around 1 hour after removal of the balloon. 

No Anaesthesia

Because there is no pain involved in either insertion or removal of the balloon, anaesthesia is not required. However we do use mild sedation. As a result you will be asleep during the procedure. What could be better?

Because no surgery is performed, no anaesthesia is used, and no overnight stay is required, no one needs to know about the procedure.. Not even your family. It can be our secret.

Fully Reversible

The balloon is removed between 6 to 12 months after insertion, or earlier if the required weight has been lost. There will be no change in the anatomy....... other than the weight loss.
